Technological developments have brought major changes in various sectors of life, including the agricultural sector. Now, the concept of smart farming is starting to be widely implemented as a solution to increase productivity and efficiency. Smart agriculture combines digital technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence, and automation systems in land management and production processes.

With this technology, farmers can monitor plant conditions in real-time via devices such as smartphones or tablets. Sensors planted in the ground are able to provide information regarding humidity, temperature and the nutritional content of the soil. The data is then processed to help farmers determine the right steps, such as when to water, fertilize and harvest.

Apart from that, the use of drones in agriculture is also increasingly popular. Drones can be used to map land, monitor plant health, and evenly spray fertilizer or pesticides. This not only saves time and effort, but also increases production output significantly.

Smart agriculture also supports a more efficient distribution system. With the existence of a digital platform, harvest results can be marketed directly to consumers without going through many intermediaries. This provides greater profits for farmers and ensures that the product reaches consumers in fresh condition.

However, the application of this technology still faces several challenges, such as quite high investment costs and limited access to technology in remote areas. Therefore, support is needed from the government, private sector and educational institutions to provide adequate training and facilities.

With the implementation of smart agriculture, it is hoped that Indonesia's agricultural sector can develop to be more modern, highly competitive, and able to meet food needs sustainably in the future.
